On April 10, 2017, Vision Christian Bible College & Seminary (VCBCS) attended the annual conference of the International Association of Bible Colleges and Seminaries (IABCS) in Atlanta, Georgia. The conference presided over by IABCS president Dr Randal Langley, consisted of twenty-five academic leaders from institutions throughout the United States and Mexico who assembled to discuss the present state, as well as the future outlook of IABCS.

Dr Christopher Romano, VCBCS’ Department Head of Theology and Biblical Studies commented, “I was so impressed with the leadership that Dr Randal Langley and his executive team demonstrated. He provided us with a clear vision for IABCS as well as a mandate for collaboration, transparency, and accountability for all member schools.” Romano also mentioned that having accreditation with an organization like IABCS was “vital” because of their “Kingdom-centric” philosophy of education.

VCBCS was established in 1992 by the late Dr Jan Garber and has operated successfully over the last 25 years equipping men and women for the work of the ministry. The graduates of VCBCS can be found serving God in the local church, in the marketplace, and in the mission field all around the world according to their specific gifts and callings.

Receiving accreditation from an organization like IABCS was important to the executive leadership of VCBCS for a variety of reasons. According to Dr Ron King, VCBCS’ Vice President, “Our relationship with IABCS is one that affords us with several strong benefits including academic credibility, institutional accountability, as well as a network of like-minded institutions.”

What also made IABCS so intriguing to VCBCS was its loyalty to its heritage as well as its commitment to the future. IABCS is the oldest theological accreditation organization in the United States but also has proven to be one of the fastest growing. This status has caused VCBCS to embrace its accreditation with IABCS with both confidence and excitement. Dr H.G. Strickland, a member of VCBCS’ executive board, put it best when he declared, “IABCS is not only concerned with ensuring quality Christian educational standards but utilising innovations and the kind of forward thinking that lends itself to adapting – even leading in the continually changing marketplace of learning.”

This is a value that is shared by the leadership of VCBCS who endeavour themselves to be key developers and pace-setters in the spheres of biblical training and education.
